Temple Grandin
Temple Grandin (born August 29, 1947) is an American doctor of animal science and professor at Colorado State University, bestselling author, and consultant to the livestock industry on animal behavior. As a person with high-functioning autism, Grandin is also widely noted for her work in autism advocacy and is the inventor of the hug machine designed to calm hypersensitive persons.
The aim with this workshop was to inform and educate members of ABP on the latest and greatest methods of animal welfare in the beef processing industry. ABP are focused on providing stress free environments throughout our process facilities which ensure livestock are relaxed and calm prior to slaughter. The goal is to further improve the quality and tenderness of our beef products by effectively managing glycogen levels in livestock pre-mortim and making sure the PH balance & tenderness of each carcass is maximized prior to cutting.
